So Mrs. Firepit played Tourguide Barbie today, and took us all around Monterey
environs. The kids had a great time climbing on the rocks
in Pacific Grove, then we drove down the coast a bit to Carmel, and back u
p for lunch al fresco at the 17th Street Grill in PG. YUM!! So, thusly fortified, we headed to Moss Landing State Park to see the sea lions up close and personal, and the sea otters a little less up close. The fascinating fact about sea lions is that they REALLY stink up close. This eve, we'll head
for Mexican at a restaurant overlooking Monterey Bay. We've had a wonderful time of visiting and relaxing; tomorrow we head north some more through San Francisco to Oregon, then on to Dupont, WA.
We recently had a voice mail from Reverend Alden (letting us know how terrible DC traffic is) and wondering why we don't have a camper with us. The short answer is that it gets less than 7 miles to the gallon and for over 8,000 miles, that's less than economical. Also, in addition to visiting friends along the way, we had a 6 nights at the Family Reunion, and we're tent camping for 4 nights. AND after driving 130 miles on the Pacific Coast Highway yesterday, we are VERY thankful that we don't have it with us. The Blue Dragon is pretty much relegated to shorter camping trips nowadays.
He also asked about if one is able to comment on the blog, and the answer is YES!! We welcome comments, but we might not necessarily actually follow your advice if you give it to us, FYI. Also, take a gander at the poll; it's pretty informative.
