The Axe Falls...

With 13 days to go, we've had 2 of our planned stops axed. One for the sake of time and sanity (Bryce Canyon, because the road from the East Entrance to Zion, where which we would travel from Bryce, is closed and under construction). We just really don't want to have to prolong time in the Wessel Vessel if we don't have to, so we'll take the detour and hope our kids will someday want to return and see this beautiful testament to God's beauty and majesty that is Bryce Canyon. It is truly one of my favorites, but Zion is the top, and there has to be some priority.

The other location was nixed because of a move!! And certainly not one of the ones (the military folk) that I would have guessed it would be. As an aside, we actually have already had one of those axed several months ago (we'll call them Mr. and Mrs. Razorback--they're moving from sunny, hot, and dry Phoenix to sunny, hot, and humid Montgomery, Alabama as I write...well, at least the movers are there at their house, packing up, right now). So back to the non-military person who's moved away and made me have to re-Mapquest that part of the roadtrip--it is our beloved pastor from DC (we'll call him Reverend Alden, since we'll be in Little House Territory for that little change). But...my prayer is that we would be able to see a lot more of him in the future, anyway, since he'll be back on this side of the country...

I am now in possession of a bright orange binder with all things Wessel Epic Roadtrip. I just spent an hour printing the maps from Mapquest (I know, I know, we have a GPS, but I am one of those old-fashioned people who like to see a paper map as well. Sorry, folks, this journey has destroyed a tree or two). I've also printed the Ranger programs for Zion and Yellowstone; we'll see if we actually participate in any of them. Stay tuned!!
