I am a Bad Friend!!

With less than 24 hours before the departure of the Wessel Vessel on the Epic Roadtrip, we've had another itinerary change, and it was our first stop!! This is because I'm a really bad friend!! Our AF friends in MS, who whe knew in Florida way back when, have been unreachable, and I'll admit, I didn't try in earnest to reach them until yesterday at the airport, as I was flying home from taking the dog (we'll call him Murphy) to Ohio to reside with Thurston and Lovey Howell (who are GLADLY not taking this particular 3 hour tour!!) and the dog cousins for the month we'll be away. To be fair, I also had tried to email them about a month ago. I am just a terrible phone-caller, and the later it got, the more dumb I felt calling, so it's all my fault. Still, we'll really miss the opportunity to see them on our journey. On the plus-side, the change does save us 2 hours of driving.

So, the dining room table has become the staging area for all the stuff we need to cram into the Wessel Vessel this afternoon in the 99 degree, high humidity weather. The kids pretty much packed and ready to go, but, owing to my recent quick trip to OH, I am not. AND Ginger has volleyball camp this morning, and I plan to get one last jujitsu class in as well. I'm not terribly worried; we'll see if I'm singing a different tune this evening. Sorry kids, no dinner for you this evening!! We've got to eat everything spoilable in the fridge, anyway!! I'll probably write a bit more this evening, and also maybe have a picture or two of the pre-trip festivities, including the christening of the Wessel Vessel.

  1. You are not a bad friend, just a busy one. Have no fear, my gradmother (who was fabulous with staying in touch when she was able to write) reassures me that when your children leave home, you once again have time to be a really good friend. Until then, you have to be a good mommy. Even in your busy mommy mode, I still think you are a great friend.

    Good luck on the voyage!
